Henglis

Henglis is an English code that's a lot easier to speak than Viesa. It keeps the same alphabet and grammar as English, so no Cyrillic, grammatical nuances, or anything like that.

Every letter is pronounced as in the IPA, with the following exceptions:

Rules

Below is the list of rules for translating words into Henglis.

  1. Remove all apostrophes. (I'm -> Im)
  2. Move the final letter of a word to the beginning. (cat -> tca)
  3. Double letters become single letters. (queen -> nquee -> nque)
  4. Add 'h' after every 'c', unless there is already an 'h' after it. (tca -> tcha)
  5. Replace 'q' and 'x' with 'k' and 'ks' respectively. (nque -> nkue)
  6. 'w', 'y', and 'h' become 'v', 'g', and 'k' at the end of words. (lawn -> nlaw -> nlaw -> nlav, night -> tnigh -> tnigk)
  7. Insert 'i' in between any two consonants that are difficult to pronounce together. (tcha -> ticha, nkue -> nikue, nlav -> nilav, tnigk -> tinigik)
  8. Insert 'k' in between any sequence of two vowels. (nikue -> nikuke)
